RCMP have identified the body of a man found in a secluded area of Nova Scotia almost three months ago.

Police say the man was found in a wooded area off Highway 104 in Lower South River on Dec. 5.

They released a forensic sketch of the victim on Feb. 10 and later that same day, a man from Newfoundland and Labrador phoned police to say he believed the man in the sketch resembled his brother.

Investigators used DNA testing to confirm the man was 54 years of age and from Newfoundland and Labrador.

The man's name and hometown will not be released, at the request of his family.
