HALIFAX - While transit workers in Halifax are in the middle of a strike, another group of union workers could be heading for the picket line soon.
Newsroom employees at Nova Scotia's largest daily newspaper have overwhelmingly voted in favour of strike action.
More than 96 percent of the union's members at The Chronicle Herald in Halifax voted to strike if they can't reach a deal with management.
The union's president Stephen Forest says the main concern is the company wants to make a big cut to starting wages for photographers and reporters.
In Sunday's paper, Ian Thompson, the Herald's associate publisher, wrote "we remain hopeful that our negotiations will result in an agreement that works for all of us."
The two sides will be in conciliation talks on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
If they can't agree it, Forest says it could lead to a possible strike or lockout.
