Maritimers were left picking-up – and drying out – Friday evening after a Fall storm dumped massive amounts of rain and threatened to blow away anything that wasn't nailed-down.

The storm moved in overnight Thursday and raged for much of the day Friday.

Some areas recorded more than 100 mm's of rain.

Streets were flooded in HRM, Saint John, Truro, Moncton and other centres.

Works crews in Halifax struggled to clear storm drains, many of which were clogged by an onslaught of remaining leaves blown from nearby trees.

Several accidents were reported, including a Metro Transit bus that was rear-ended by a car driven by a pregnant woman.

No one was hurt, but the woman, the bus driver, and three passengers were checked-out by paramedics.

In Saint John, residents in one neighbourhood watched helplessly as passing cars drove high-water further onto their properties.

"The higher the water goes and the faster they go, the more water we're going to have in our basements", Kristal Cannon told CTV News.

A Chinese restaurant in Dartmouth was surrounded by water by the time the system began moving out Friday evening.

At one time, 1200 customers in New Brunswick were without power, along with nearly 12,000 in Nova Scotia.

By 11:00 PM Friday, less than 200 customers remained in the dark in New Brunswick, and about 2000 in Cape Breton.
