A Halifax man is facing 19 charges, including impaired driving, in connection with a fatal collision last month.

Police say they responded to a crash at the north end of Barrington Street, under the MacKay Bridge, around 9 p.m. September 30.

Investigators say a southbound vehicle struck a northbound taxi, resulting in the death of 67-year-old Ward Robinson, who was a passenger in the taxi.

Police arrested 34-year-old Drew William MacPherson, the driver of the southbound vehicle, on Friday.

MacPherson is facing numerous charges including criminal negligence causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and breach of probation.

Police say MacPherson is in custody at a Halifax hospital. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday, but police say it is unclear whether he will be able to attend.
